Class Description

Dive into the world of menopause through creative writing in a fun and supportive online workshop. Menopause is having a cultural moment—the New Yorker has said. While novels like Miranda July's "All Fours" have expanded menopausal literature, aging and women's health deserve an even larger share of cultural discourse. Join this writing workshop for a community just coming into the spotlight. The MenoPower Writing Hour empowers the meno-impacted and the curious to be heard while connecting with others who understand. What to Expect A facilitated write-in where the perimenopausal, menopausal, and postmenopausal gather to write, share, rage, and reflect. Anyone on any side of the estrogen line is welcome. We write. We share. We leave feeling less alone. All genres welcome: Memoir, poetry, essays, rants, manifestos, genre fiction, podcasts, journal entries, screenplays, and grocery lists that turn into soul confessions. About Your Facilitator Keli Dailey is a nonfiction writer, adjunct professor, comedian, and journalist with experience at the Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, and UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism. A 2014 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford and recipient of a First Look Media fellowship for her acclaimed 2015 comedy-news web series "News Hangover," Keli is managing editor of Globus magazine and a 2025–2026 Brown-Handler Writer in Residence at the San Francisco Public Library. She teaches at Mills College at Northeastern University and the University of San Francisco, and produces menopause-themed MenoPower events including the recent LitCamp collaboration "Hot Off the Page: Menopause Stories Live!" www.kelidailey.com What Participants Say "This gives hope for what is on the other side of the mountain." — Sara "Talking to all of you I feel so less alone!" — Christine "Loved the MenoPower hour.
